Maple Bacon Donuts

You may think I’m on a donut kick, and you’d be right. As I mentioned with my churro donut recipe, buying a donut pan was one of my best life decisions to date. Donuts are so easy to make, and not nearly as time consuming as any other thing I want to bake. Today, I took a crack at a crowd favorite: maple bacon. Enjoy!

Maple Donuts

  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 c maple syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 c buttermilk
  • 2 tbs salted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp maple extract

Maple Glaze

  • 1/2 c maple syrup
  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • 1 tbs cream


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in one bowl. In separate bowl, combine syrup, butter, egg, sugar, buttermilk, and extract. Mix until well combined.
  3. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Fill donut pan 1/2 of the way. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. For the glaze: Mix the syrup, sugar and cream in a shallow dish until well incorporated. It should be liquidy enough to be glaze-like. If too thick, add cream until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Remove from pan and let cool. When desired, add glaze. You can drizzle or dip the tops in as I did.
  7. For the bacon, I bought the pre cooked bacon from the grocery store and zapped it 1 minute until it was crispy.
